She was a Mensa participant and actor who played the roles in Thelma & Louise Beetlejuice, Stuart Little and Thelma & Louise. The actress was nominated to an Golden Globe Award for her performance as Dottie Hinson from A League of Their Own and also for her role in the character Muriel Pritchett from 1988's drama The Accidental Tourist. She was awarded an Academy Award for Best Supporting actress. She played a female character as a character in Beetlejuice (1988) which is an American comedy/horror directed and written by Tim Burton.
